PING Junior Golf Tour – Parent Code of Conduct

At the PING Junior Golf Tour, we believe that parents play a crucial role in creating a positive, respectful, and enjoyable environment for junior golfers. To ensure the best possible experience for all participants, we ask that all parents, guardians and spectators adhere to the following Code of Conduct.

  1. Supportive Behaviour
  • Encourage your child to play for fun, personal development, and the love of the game.
  • Show appreciation for good performances by all players, not just your own child.
  • Celebrate effort, improvement, and sportsmanship above results.
  • Help the flow of the game by keeping up with the group in front and maintaining a good pace of play – which is enjoyable for everyone.
  1. Respect for All
  • Treat all players, parents, volunteers, officials, and staff with courtesy and respect at all times.
  • Accept decisions made by referees, marshals, and tournament organisers – no matter the outcome.
  • Never engage in criticism, confrontation, or negative behaviour on or off the course.
  1. Golf Etiquette and Safety
  • Stay clear of playing areas unless permitted by officials, this includes refraining from standing on greens.
  • Maintain a respectful distance from players during competition rounds.
  • Ensure mobile phones are on silent and used responsibly around the course.
  • Parents/ Spectators must not decide on any rulings throughout the tournament. If there’s any doubt on a ruling, please see the Tournament Director at the end of the event.
  1. Encourage Independence
  • Allow your child to learn the game through experience – coaching on the course is not permitted.
  • Trust in the officials and tour staff to support players fairly and consistently.
  • Help your child understand the importance of responsibility, honesty, and playing within the rules.
  1. Parental Involvement
  • We welcome and value parental involvement both on and off the course – whether through volunteering, assisting with events, or helping to grow the tour’s community.
  • If you would like to contribute your time, skills, or ideas, please speak with a member of the tour team.
  • Constructive involvement helps us provide a better experience for all juniors and promotes a strong, family-friendly atmosphere.
  1. Be a Positive Role Model
  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship in victory and defeat.
  • Promote inclusivity, fairness, and a team spirit among other families.
  • Remember that your actions and attitudes shape the experience of everyone involved.
  1. Zero Tolerance for Abuse
  • The PING Junior Golf Tour has zero tolerance for verbal or physical abuse towards players, staff, volunteers, or fellow spectators.
  • Any breach of this code may result in removal from the event or future exclusion from the tour.
  1. Disputes and Challenges (Rules Breaches)
  • For any disputes and challenges between players, every attempt MUST be made to resolve things between the players and before signing for and returning the score in the first instance.
  • Any decisions made by referees, marshals, and tournament organisers must be accepted – no matter the outcome.
